For this assignment for the course Metadata Architecture and Implementation, I created an element set to describe adoptable cats. I determined which information would be important to include to describe the cats, and looked at existing metadata schemas to determine if they would meet my requirements, aligning with PLO 4. While I used some pre-existing elements from schema.org, I primarily created my own elements. I also have example records, which describe my own cats. Make sure to scroll down to the bottom to see their pictures! This assignment gave me a chance to think about how best to describe an entity for a particular purpose. This will help me to create quality metadata for a variety of items. Though this project does not directly work with special collections, the skills used are transferable and are especially applicable to the description aspect of competency III.C.1.
