This assignment was part of the final for the course Theory and Practice of Archival Description. For this assignment, I created a finding aid for the Frank G. Curtiss Collection according to Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS). This assignment gave me a chance to put the theories of archival description I learned in the course into practice, as described in PLO 1, and will prepare me for creating and updating finding aids for archival collections in my career. I also encoded the information found in this finding aid in both Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and Marc21 formats. This knowledge of archival description standards helps me to meet competency III.B.1 for special collections professionals.

Describes special collections materials in accordance with institutional policies and current metadata best practices in special collections, archival, and museum communities; negotiates the relationship between professional practices and local implementation of these practices based on user needs.
